About Our Church

A welcoming and inclusive Anglican Church in Crosby area of Scunthorpe.

Service times: Sunday 10.45am.

St George's serves the Crosby area of Scunthorpe. Our postal address is Digby Street, but most people recognise the church location as Frodingham Road.

St George's is a welcoming church that has been at the heart of the community since the 1920's. We are proud to be an Inclusive Church within a diverse, multicultural community. Being inclusive means welcoming all people, without prejudice or judgement. St George's is a place where everyone can feel respected and at home, regardless of gender, sexuality, wealth, race, ability or age. We do whatever we can to join in with God’s work of transformation and hope, especially where people feel excluded, marginalised or misunderstood, in the church as well as in wider society. We’re on a journey, why not come along?

We value the shape of Anglican liturgy and weave in contemporary and creative expressions of prayer and use a mixture of traditional and modern music on a Sunday. Our ethos and preaching is liberal/radical, with a strong emphasis on inclusion, social justice and care for the community and planet earth. We don't expect or ask people to conform to a rigid set of beliefs or values when they visit our church, so come as you are, sit with us during our services and join in, if you wish. We're very pleased to have your company.

We currently alternate between services of Holy Communion with healing and Morning Prayer on Sundays at 10.45am.  All are welcome!

The Church is available for Baptisms (Christenings), Weddings and Marriage/Civil Partnership Blessings, most of which can be arranged at our office on a Wednesday morning after 10.00am. If you would like to hold a funeral service at St George's prior to cremation or burial, please tell your Funeral Director and they will make the arrangements with us.

The Church Office is located inside the Crosby One Community Centre (at the rear of St George's Church). It is open most Wednesdays from 10.00am to 11.30am. If you cannot make it at this time, send us a message and we will get back to you to make alternative arrangements.

We really do welcome anyone from our community to visit the Church or join our services.

St George's is a member of Inclusive Church, One Body One Faith and we are longstanding  Fairtrade Church.
