If you would like to make arrangements for a Baptism/Christening, Wedding (including reading of Banns) or Marriage Blessing or Prayers of Thanksgiving, please use the contact form on this website. Please note: We are currently unable to offer Baptisms until October 2024

If you would like to hold a funeral service at St George's, prior to burial or cremation, this can be arranged through your chosen Funeral Director.  Alternatively, you can hold a service of remembrance on a date after the funeral by contacting us.

If you have any other questions or enquiries please feel free to use the contact form or give us a call. We are always happy to hear from you.

We welcome parents who wish to have their child Baptised (Christened) at St George's.

Due to a shortage of clergy at the present time we are unable to offer any dates before October 2024. When Baptisms take place it is always on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 12.30pm.

The procedure for booking a Baptism/Christening:

  1. Initial meeting: Please contact us to arrange a meeting, typically on a Wednesday at 11am. During this meeting we will complete the paperwork and take a copy of your child's birth certificate.
  2. Date Confirmation: After the initial meeting, we will consult with the Vicar to find out when they are available and confirm the date of the Baptism with you as soon as possible.
  3. Preparation session: Parents and Godparents will need to attend a Baptism preparation session at least three weeks before the Baptism takes place. This session will also take place in church at 12.30pm.
  4. Godparent Requirements: Please not that all Godparents must be Baptised themselves.

We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation with these procedures to ensure that everything is prepared well and the special day goes ahead according to plan.

Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you and your family to our church.

We have great pleasure in confirming that St George's Church will offer prayers of love and faith during our regular services of worship with immediate effect.

Our church council unanimously supported a resolution to offer prayers for couples in loving and committed relationships, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. As an inclusive church we wish to play our part in honouring before God, those relationships that have love and commitment at their core.

Please use the contact form to begin making arrangements with us.

We have set up a donation page on this website. If you can help us out with a small donation we would be most grateful.

The Nave area of St George's Church is available for hire for meetings, functions, workshops, concerts and performances. A large open space, the Nave can seat 100+ people and can be arranged to accommodate more for bigger events.

St George's Church has a fully equipped, modern kitchen for serving snacks and refreshments, which can be included in the hire. We are not licensed for alcohol.
