About

About Our Church

An inclusive Anglican Church in Crosby area of Scunthorpe, where we Live God's Love.

Priest in Charge: Canon Cameron Martin

Service times: Sunday 10.45am.

St George's serves the Crosby area of Scunthorpe. Our postal address is Digby Street, but most people recognise the church location as Frodingham Road.

At St George's we "Live God's Love".

Live God's Love: these three short words underpin our values.

An Inclusive Church for over 15 years, St George's welcomes everyone, without exception. We are especially proud of the welcome we offer to LGBTQ+ people.

"Live God's Love" means living out faith in tangible ways that reflect God's love for all people.

Living God's love means embodying the love that God has for all people in every aspect of our lives. This includes showing kindness, compassion, and empathy to those around us, regardless of background, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, mental health, or belief.

Living God's love also means advocating for justice and equality for all people. This includes standing up against discrimination, oppression, and injustice, and working to create a more just and equitable society.

Living God's love also means serving others in practical ways, such as volunteering at a food bank, or with charities and good causes, or helping to clean up a local park. By serving others, we demonstrate God's love in action and make a positive difference in our communities.

Finally, living God's love includes sharing the gospel message with others. This means sharing the good news of God's love and grace with those who have not yet heard it, and inviting them to experience the transformative power of God's love in their own lives.

Overall, "Live God's Love" is a call to action to live out faith in ways that reflect God's love for all people, without exception. It is an invitation to embody God's love, advocate for justice, serve others, and share the gospel message with those around us.

Like what you hear? We're on a journey, why not come along?

We value the shape of Anglican liturgy, but try to weave in creative and contemporary expressions of prayer and use a mixture of traditional and modern music on a Sunday. Our ethos and preaching is liberal/radical, with a strong emphasis on inclusion, social justice and care for the community and planet earth. We don't expect or ask people to conform to a rigid set of beliefs or values when they visit our church, so come as you are, sit with us during our services and join in, if you wish. We're very pleased to have your company.

We meet most Sundays at 10.45am.  All are very welcome!

The Church is available for Baptisms (Christenings), Weddings and Marriage Blessings and we offer Prayers of Thanksgiving (Prayers of Love and Faith) for committed relationships and same-sex marriages and civil partnerships . Please use the contact form on this website or give us a call to see about making arrangements. If you would like to hold a funeral service at St George's prior to cremation or burial, please tell your Funeral Director and they will make the arrangements with us.

We really do welcome anyone from our community to visit the Church or join our services.

St George's is a member of Inclusive Church and we are longstanding  Fairtrade Church.
